Synopsis

Album Description
No longer a solo artist, Jurado is now a band; having added permanent members Eric Fisher and Jenna Conrad. Together they'll lead you into the lyrical world of the forgotten faces that you once knew. The songs are old friends and close relatives, quarreling loves and love lost, the very thoughts that cross your mind when you are alone or among the crowd.

CD Reviews

A new Jurado!
KA | NYC Metro | 10/25/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"As a big fan of Jurado's body of work, this album shows uncharacteristic cohesiveness. His other albums are cohesive but I guess in more subtle ways. On this new album, the songs are tied together in more apparent ways. This is probably influenced by the two other members he now includes and names as part of Damien Jurado. Damien Jurado is now composed of 3 members.

Jurado on his own is a revelation but I would imagine he welcomes the addition of the two new members to help expand on his sound a little. You can't do everything on your own, right?

It works really well here. Sometimes a Jurado song gets a little to somber and minimalist for my taste but the spattering of sparse sounding songs work on this album and I find myself listening to the whole album without skipping around. His sound has always been cinematic and on this album, it's fleshed out even more. I would imagine a lot of listeners would cast his music off as too sad but the strange thing is while I do think the songs are sad, there's still a thread of optimism and hope that runs through the album.

His landscape has been expanded and his (their) sound is a little different and I like where this direction is going....a lot."
It's wonderful

"Probably the finest CD I have listened to this year. The song by the same title is worth the price of the CD alone. Stunning."
