"I first heard of Dan from his teaming up with Billy Childish on their excellent album "Devil in the Flesh." A few months went by until I noticed that Holly Golightly was playing with Ted Leo at the Black Cat in Washington DC. Since they were both some of my more favorite musicians, I went. Ted was excellent in his post-Chisel way, but the star of the Show in my opinion was Dan Melchior who was playing lead guitar for Holly. He sang on about half the songs, and the live performance sold me on this album. In fact, 3 or 4 of the songs on this album they played at the show. His stripped down blues is very catchy, and yes I find myself singing along to many of the songs. Dan's distinctive voice matches well with Holly's backing vocals and leaves an impression that has you humming the lyrics for days. I listened to the cd 3 times straight through when it arrived! Overall, an excellent cd. What more could you want? Any fan of Billy Childish or traditional blues will enjoy this. And if not it was only 10 bucks so don't complain!"
