Daniel O'Donnell's rags to riches success story couldn't have happened to a more popular and talented performer. He has become one of Ireland's greatest exports, performing to over 300,000 people every year from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House, To The Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena. Recognized for his "services to the music industry", O'Donnell was awarded an Honorary MBE in the Queen's New Years Honors list OF 2002. "I do not for one minute wish to detract from Gentleman Jim Reeves and his velvet voice, because I like his music, too. I perk up every time I happen to hear his rich, one-of-a-kind, easy-listening voice.
But now there is "Daniel" with an easy-listening, velvet-voiced style all his own, which I cannot hear enough of. His renditions of Jim's songs are done with his own intonations, clarity, and timing which just flow with my own musical sense and feelings. I even enjoy the sad songs. There are the beautiful love songs, too, like I LOVE YOU BECAUSE, MOONLIGHT AND ROSES, AND YOU'RE THE ONLY GOOD THING.
If I could pick two special songs, they would be AM I LOSING YOU and HOW CAN I WRITE ON PAPER, perhaps because they are new to me, and Daniel does them so unforgettably.
This album is a very desirable addition to my collection, but then I feel that way about all of Daniel's music. I think Jim would be pleased and honored that Daniel, a super-star in his own right, remembered him with this tribute to his music. I might add that the CD cover pictures of Daniel are a special treat for his fans, and the short biographical story about Jim is interesting and very appropriate.

He's not Jim Reeves, but....

"if you have never heard Jim Reeves you will enjoy every selection. However, my favorite singer was Jim Reeves. I cannot fault Daniel O'Donnell for doing his songs, but Jim sang them with a trademark that I cannot ever forget. My wife notices this also, but Daniel has become our favorite singer as of late, and we are both senior citizens that enjoy great music. So we have to give him five stars as he is smooth and more of a tenor where Jim Reeves was a smooth baritone. To make this story short, for one who likes the country ballads, nobody today can sing them any better than Daniel. Just sit back and enjoy. You cannot go wrong with anything by Daniel O'Donnell."

"As always, Daniel has done a greatjob on this album. Also has done justice to the late Jim Reeves as many of Jim's best songs are recorded on here." He'll Have To Go", "Anna Marie", Am I Loosing You" and many more. Twenty -three songs to enjoy by this Irish singer who has made it big in Ireland , England and Australia and is now making his mark in North America. If you have never heard this man sing , you are in for a treat to hear his version of the old country songs as well as some new ones.
I only discovered his music a couple of years ago and I was hooked on it instantly."

"As a fairly new Daniel O'Donnell fan, I eagerly look forward to each new CD he releases. Welcome To My World is one of the best yet! It's a compilation of hits by the late country singer Jim Reeves. I wasn't familiar with a lot of "older" country music until Daniel introduced me to some of the wonderful songs in this musical genre. This CD is packed with 23 great songs all done in Daniel's inimitable style. Every track is outstanding and some of my favorites include the title song, Adios Amigo, Guilty, Blueside of Lonesome, Distant Drums, and I Missed Me. Get this CD and you can be sure you will play it again and again!"
Tribute to Jim Reeves

"I salute Daniel O'Donnell for tackling this project on the 40th anniversary of Jim Reeves' passing. Jim Reeves had an incomparable voice that no one could hope to match. His smooth style earned him worldwide fame and his music is timeless. Daniel also has a smooth, gentle approach that works very well on most of the selections. He's most effective on some of the lesser known hits, such as It Hurts So Much, How Can I Write On Paper, Is It Really Over, and others. 2 of Jim Reeves' biggest sellers - He'll Have To Go and Welcome To My World just can't compare with Jim's rich baritone. Even so, this is a worthy compilation that is a welcome addition to any collection of fine music."
