The tragic events of 9/11 produced their share of unexpected heroes, few more unlikely than Daniel Rodriguez, the NYPD's "singing cop." The Puerto Rican-American tenor's by now familiar rendition of "God Bless America" won... more » over the hearts of his city, then nation--but took shots from a few cynical critics, too. Rodriguez emerged from the experience with career mentoring from no less than Placido Domingo, and this sophomore release gratifyingly proves that Rodriguez was no marketing fluke. Tellingly, the musician bookends this collection with personal tributes to the singer he obviously hopes to pattern his career after, Mario Lanza, including the unabashed romantic bluster of "Be My Love," the song Rodriguez proposed to his wife with. The singer and producer Tom Scott chart a course through a slate of familiar modern ballads and Broadway standards both old (Carousel's "If I Loved You") and new ("Only Love" and "She Was There" from The Scarlet Pimpernel). But the album's most intriguing selections are a pair of Spanish language love songs ("Jurame," "Solamente Una Vez"), recordings whose warm, sumptuous flavor seems to hint at even brighter horizons for the sturdy tenor and improbable modern American hero. --Jerry McCulley« less

"I'd give this CD five more stars if they were available here! This is a Wow CD! What a fabulous CD "From My Heart". Every note that America's Beloved Tenor, Daniel Rodriguez sings is packed with such intensity, power and sentiment. As a Music Educator and Chairman of Music at our School I instantly came to appreciate the inmense quality of Mr. Rodriguez's crisp, clear and powerful voice. From the moment I heard his recording, I knew America had at last acquired its very own Tenor whose voice is every bit the voice of a true Tenor, note by note. We have enjoyed all of the great Tenors of our time -- Placido, Jose Carreras, Pavarotti and the Irish Tenors. Now Daniel Rodriguez, America's Beloved Tenor is right up there with the best of them! I highly recommend this wonderful CD to all who hear it! To us this CD has been a spiritual, romantic and exciting journey. There is something in this album for everyone! You will not want to stop playing it and listening to the incredibly powerful, romantic, yet gentile voice of Daniel Rodriguez. My wife said it best, his is a voice that speaks tenderly to the heart! Everyone must get this CD!"

"I guess you can now say that it's safe for Daniel to give up his cop job in New York...after two listenings to this gorgeous follow-up to "The Spirit of America," it's hard to compare the two. Daniel has chosen a great collection of songs that work well with his magnificent tenor voice, and he has wisely kept much of the same team that worked on the first album. Tom Scott shows that he is much more than a jazz saxman with his brilliant writing, conducting, and producing. My favorite tracks on this CD are "The Prayer" (a lovely duet with Kristin Chenoweth), and the album closer "I'll Walk with God." Thank you Daniel, and continue to inspire!!"

"It appalls me, to read a review that belittles a singer of this magnitude. I doubt (in response to 'music fan') that Daniel had little if anything to do with picking his producer. Even Frank Sinatra took what he could get in his early years. One buys this CD for the music, for the voice. Daniel is without doubt, a premiere singer, early in his career. Give the man a chance, enjoy what he has to offer, have a glass of wine and don't be so picky! Daniel's voice today is a find, like finding gold in California some 150 years ago. Enjoy, listen, be in awe. Oh, puzzle is spelled puzzle, not puzzel...."

"Daniel Rodriguez has a voice that comes straight from his heart! If Mario Lanza were alive, he'd be envious of Daniel's renditions of Be My Love and I'll Walk With God. This CD has only been out a couple of weeks, but if you could wear one out, I'd need to be replacing mine by now. . . . . ."

"Daniel's singing is wonderful on this CD. I gave everyone I know copies. His incredible looks and his voice are magnificently nostalgic and yet he brings a freshness to opera. He has this Caruso like charm and his voice comes so close to Caruso's yet, Daniel sounds like Daniel. I think this man can play Caruso if given half a chance. Everything about Daniel is classic. I've seen him perform live and his voice and presentation are great. We saw him sing on Valentine's Day this year and he brought down the house that night. I cannot wait to hear his next release!"
