Elfman Attacks!

"Tim Burton and Danny Elfman together again! (after a brief spat that caused Burton to hire Howard Shore for "Ed Wood".) I have given this album only three stars because much of it really is not just a good listening album; this is one of those that is clearly meant to accompany the movie. I do, however, have nothing but high praise for his Opening Titles, a composition that successfully presents an atmosphere of comic tragedy (if such a mix is possible). The use of one single musical phrase, repeated, re-orchestrated, made louder and more violent, for two and a half minutes is musical creativity at its highest. (Only Ravel and his "Bolero" comes as close to such complex simplicity.) My advice: Find it on sale; used copies at an auction, etc."

"This is not one of Elfman's best scores but is amazing! The main titles give a sense of a millitary atmosphere and chaos. The ones I found most interesting are The Main Title, The Landing, and the eerie Ungodly Experiments. The best use of the choir in this cd is Ungodly Experiments. The rest of the cd is ok. The score for Mars Attacks is remarkable. Even the song by Tom Jones fits well in this album."

"I love this score because it has action,mystery,and space all rolled into one,Danny Elfman used different instruments in this score that were indeed a brilliant idea,not only do they sound great but they are used in only a way that Danny Elfman can use them!Truly a terrific score the greatest song on the whole album is the Intro/MainTitles,an ausome song.If you liked the score to "Men In Black" this is pretty simular and you will love it!"
