Love Dar. Love this album. DualDisc? Not so much.

"I bought this to replace the CD version that mysteriously disappeared from my collection.
I figured the DualDisc was worth the extra money and wait, since Amazon never seems to have it in stock.
Yes, you get lyrics and pictures on the DVD side. Three pictures. And they're the background images for the lyrics, which makes the DualDisc "experience" not unlike watching a really long PowerPoint presentation with great music. Four of the "slides" even have pictures of Dar! (Do you see where I'm going with this?)
The audio is allegedly 5.1 on the DVD side. I'm willing to believe this, since my receiver switches to a 5.1 mode... but my speakers tell a different story. Listening to the CD side on the same system (set to 7-channel stereo) didn't produce a noticeably different sound.
There was no video to be found, unless you count the animated "Silverline" logo, and there were 13 additional pictures, which, frankly, aren't very good.
For added fun, the CD side "mysteriously" works on all of my DVD and CD players, except for the ones in my computers. So, you can imagine what an awesome time I had getting this album in to my iPod.
So... if you like Dar Williams (even a little), you absolutely must own The Beauty of the Rain. But unless you like paying more money, waiting a long time, and DRM, you're better off getting the normal CD version."
