Absolutely Terrific CD

"I purchased this CD at a live performance of Darin and Brooke Aldridge and their excellent band. Almost 2 years ago "Bluegrass Unlimited" raved that Darin and Brooke Aldridge's first CD release since their marriage "set a new standard of excellence in bluegrass gospel". I purchased that CD, "I'll Go With You", and love it so much that I ended up putting the entire album on my ipod and vowed to see them do a live performance. The performance, and the new self-titled album, were MUCH better than I was expecting (and remember, I went thinking it was going to be a good show). Awesome is a good description. A couple of the songs on the new album appeal to a wider audience than just bluegrass. It is very risky for really good bluegrass groups to venture out into the country but this pair of musical talents pull it off with great success. You can tell that the many years with Charlie Waller and the Country Gentlemen have prepared Darin well to front his own first rate group. I tried to pick my favorite song off of the new CD and I couldn't narrow it down to less than 3: "sweetest waste of time" is certainly worth listening to over and over; "Corn" has become a favorite of my younger, "hip" country friends (and me); and "Building on the rock of ages" is, well, breathtaking for its simplicity and sincerity. Folks, you just have to hear Brooke Justice Aldridge sing! She fills up a room with the sound of angels.
