"The sticker affixed to the cellophane of this record referenced My Bloody Valentine, so I was intrigued. However, I've heard that comparison flung around a lot in the last decade-and-a-half without much distinction being made to what qualifies the MBV sound. On the first two songs of this album, Dark Fog indeed evokes that complicated emotion of brooding, sensual, blissful, but teetering on dangerous, liable to explode. Some MBV traits were obvious: the submerged vocal lines that dripped into each other, and the sheer volume bolstered by waves of distortion.

I kept thinking that this is much better than a lot of what passes for music these days, although THE ULTIMATE CULT OF PSYCHEDELIC PSYCHOSIS still left something to be desired. I wish it was darker, or foggier (i.e. not as cleanly recorded or mixed). I see Dark Fog as forging a path in the right territory and I look forward to them realizing a future masterpiece."
