"Like so many best of-albums, this one isn't even near the best D.E.. It's from his weakest period, best of Arista Records stuff, recorded between 1982-87. There's one excellent album he made during that period, D.E.7, and it's better to have that one instead of this "best of"... To my best of collection I would pick up only three or four songs from his Arista records, and they're all found also on D.E.7. ..His biggest hit "I Hear You Knocking" and "Queen Of Hearts" are included also here, but not in their original form, only as steril and uninspired "live"-recordings from his 1987 live album which doesn't sound live at all... But,as a catch for die hard fans there is two non-LP songs included which I haven't heard, covers of Carl Perkins' "Your True Love" and "Some Other Guy", a song by I don't know who, But The Beatles used to do it... Rest of the the album is some kind of E.L.O.-rock, from two albums ruined by Jeff Lynne himself in his hottest 80's-techno-synthesizer-fever as a sound-wizard... ..After those days Jeff's done got much better as a producer.. ...To mention, the second one of those albums is called "Riff Raff"... Albums to buy instead of this one: Repeat When Necessary, Tracks On Wax, Twangin, D.E.7.... All of them fantastic and far better..."
