CD ReviewsNice collection of underappreciated music tunestony | Dayton, OH | 02/03/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "Glass Moon released three major label LPs in the early 80's and scored a Top 50 hit with their cover of the Hollies' "On a Carousel" in 1982. The best of those three albums have been collected here, along with some later Dave Adams' solo work.
The material from the first two albums still holds up well, including "Simon," a bouncy song about a brainy kid in search of his dad, and "Telegram Song," a soulful ballad with a stop/start chorus. "Killer at 25" is another standout, with it's biting lyric "Paul Simon loses no sleep over me/I don't care." The third Glass Moon LP and subsequent Adams' solo work rely heavily on synth drums which tends to date the music more. But, there's still plenty of good tunes, including the shoulda-been-hits "Cold Kid" and "Tears." And, for you eighties completists, I believe this is the only place you can get their hit "On a Carousel" on CD." |
