"Many James Bond fans are presently anticipating David Arnold's score for "Casino Royale," indeed Arnold has settled into a comfortable postion as the heir to John Barry, and that is notable. But before Arnold embraced 007 musically he had already turned some heads with his epic score for Roland Emmerich's "Stargate" (1994). It has taken quite a while but Varese Sarabande has gotten round to a "Deluxe Edition" of Arnold's score which seems to come close to a full rendition of the music produced for the film, and it was well worth the wait and effort! Arnold's score for "Stargate" literally seemed to come out of nowhere, and it was suprisingly good. Arnold wrote a lengthy score that was rich in thematic elements, and proved to be one of the more laudable elements of the film. So much so that some of the themes found their way to the television incarnations over the last few years. This is the score that established Arnold as a serious new film composer, and this able presentation finally gives us something close to a full version. Shortly after "Stargate" Arnold wrote a very solid score for "Last of the Dogmen" and then gained broad recogniton with the best of his Bond scores for "Tommorow Never Dies." As prolific as Arnold has been lately it can be argued that he has yet to surpass some of his earlier works, but there are high expectations for "Casino Royale." "Stargate" remains a fan favorite and for many good reasons. It was a lavish production at a time when few other scores were written like this. Varese has done a solid job with production values, and presentation."
Better than the Milan release!

"The Varese Deluxe Edition is a lot better than the Milan release. Not only has the sound quality improved but we have extra cues and the entire score is in film order. On the Milan release the cue "We Don't Want To Die" was placed after "Battle At The Pyramid" which was wrong.
For the Varese Edition we get a few extra cues..
Wild Abduction
Translation
Bomb Assembly
The Eye Of Ra
Execution
The Kiss
Against The Gods
Transporter Horror
Closing Credits
Grant it's only 9 cues but it helps flush out the score more and the Closing Credits is a gem cue to have since it was never on the Milan release.
If you're a fan of David Arnold, a fan of Stargate, and have the original Milan release, you got to pick up this CD. You will not regret it I promise!

Perfect in every way!

"This is an excellent score to Stargate, and the orchestra performs and sounds very good! This is, from what I can tell, the complete score, which I am also pleased with. Some of my favorite tracks are the overture, Slave Rebellion, Kasuf Returns, and the closing titles intro at the end of the soundtrack. Overall this is perfect in every way: sound, performance, melody, orchestration! A must-buy for every Stargate fan!"
Great Score!

"This is an amazing score and I wish I would have gotten it sooner. I checked it out after watching the movie recently before I got into the tv series, realizing then that it had some amazing music. This Deluxe Edition is great too, it pretty much has all the music featured in the movie. Well worth the purchase for any soundtrack collector."

"and even as a standalone piece of work this music is wonderful, rich, playful, intimate, and epic.
I have always loved the music since seeing the movie when it first came out and I am really pleased to finally have this CD."
