"Well, I am, I believe, David Gates # 1 Fan - but I know there are thousands more like me out there, even now. The previous reviewers have very nicely discussed the 5 new recordings here - the best being I Can't Play The Songs, although Find Me was the single. So, to get the new songs out there, we get a compilation of 10 key Bread tracks and a measly 5 DG solo classics. There are more new songs available too, like "Love And Bide" that David has done in concert over the last 10 years. It's a wonderful collection, but as others have already said, why can't we get some David Gates solo hits like Clouds and Took the Last Train and Where Does The Lovin Go ? Make it a DAVID GATES album - the Bread tracks (perfect as they are) have been on CD 10 different ways already.
2008 Update - Bread's album LOST WITHOUT YOUR LOVE and David Gates' 4 ELEKTRA SOLO ALBUMS have all been issued on CD by Wounded Bird Records !
They have also re-issued Bread's first 3 albums on CD, which Rhino inexcusably let go out-of-print.
P.S. - I was greatly amused by the punk who complained that we Bread fans were the same ones who later listened to Barry Manilow, Little River Band, etc. - Damn Right ! and proud of it... I also listen to Led Zeppelin, Charlie Parker, Bob Marley, Bonnie Raitt, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Beach Boys.......GOOD MUSIC."
