CD ReviewsAstonishing! Nayari | TX, USA | 04/11/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "My mother bought this music on a whim - she said it was so peaceful and beautiful. I sat and listened to it with her once, and she wound up giving it to me.
This is one tape that will stay with you throughout your life. The music is not good, it's glorious. 'Starlight' is a soothing piece that give you this clear image of a river flowing through an open plain with the stars twinkling down overhead. 'Misty Morning' reminds me of sunrise over the mountains, a slow and quiet build, and then a warm, bright climax. 'Waterdance' itself is a light, ballet-style tune that you can nearly dance to. 'Reverie' is the only piece I don't usually care for - it is EXCEPTIONALLY slow, repetitive, quiet, soothing - it will put you to sleep if you're not careful. 'Stephen's Cottage' will wake you up, however. When the song plays, you can see a friendly little cottage by the water's edge, and you get the feeling that Stephen himself is kind of a 'keeper' of the water. On the other side, I really can't talk much about 'By the Water's Edge', 'Winter's Thaw,' and 'Field of Flowers,' save that they are three very beautiful pieces. The jewels of side B of this tape, however, are 'Bittersweet Love' and 'Nightfall.' 'Nightfall' has a graceful melody that I myself would love to play. Though the song is long, it is worth every lovely measure, with gorgeous usage of the violin and flute. My favorite song, however, has to be 'Bittersweet Love.' Flute and violin both combine in this song as well and at times I actually teared up once or twice just listening to the bittersweet, (no pun intended, that's EXACTLY what it is), melody. The song itself is gentle, gorgeous, and definitely the best. Please buy this CD if you can. I guarantee you you will not regret it. It is perfect music for both background noise and foreground thinking. It's a fantastic CD." |
