"It's criminal that both The Burial and Skin-Deep aren't household names for lovers of '80's era British Ska. Except for some cuts on compilations, this is the only time I've found material by either of these bands. There's an abundance of catchy tunes on this disc, mostly working in the vein of a potent combo of Northern Soul, Punk, and Ska.The Burial even get a little folky in some of their songs. Think Billy Bragg with more of an attitude, especially on "Just Above My Head", the stand out track of the whole CD. For their part, Skin-Deep lean more into the Ska line of things, but with unusually introspective and even melancholy lyrics. You won't find any of the generic "rude boy" or "pick it up, pick it up" silliness here that so often plagues the genre. Great stuff all in all. I only wish there was more."
