CD Reviews

If you like Aqua, you'll love Daze

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD is much more enjoyable than Aqua's Aquarium (which is one of my favorites). While Aqua may have better songs, they also have some clunkers. Every song on this Daze album is good. It is true that Euro-dance music is very catchy and danceable, and the lyrics are very simple and childish - no one can call this type of music technically "sophisticated" or "mature" - but it reminds me of 80's Hi-NRG dance music which incorporated catchy pop hooks with simple danceable rhythms. This type of music does not try to be serious or hard-edge. It does not wish to make any serious political or social statement. It does not attempt to be overly sexual or violent. It is simply catchy pop music with a heavy emphasis on percussion. My 5-year old daughter loves it as much as I do. My 15-year old sister loves it as much as my mother. It's happy, light, catchy, and makes you want to dance. It is probably the opposite of hip-hop, or R&B. It sounds like techno without the hard edge. I only wish the Italians would form a Euro-dance group (they produced some of the best 80's Euro dance music), but as long as their neighbors to the north continue to make such fun music, I'll continue to buy it."

"Daze is one of those Eurodance bands that never got the recognition that it deserved. While bands like Eiffel 65, Vengaboys, and Aqua flourished in the mid-to-late 90s, Daze was quietly overlooked. Those other bands are great in their own right, but Daze was able to make dance music that was fun and had good lyrics too. They didn't treat their listeners as if they were thoughtless idiots just dancing to the beat. They gave their songs a little uuummmpphhhh....which makes this album totally wonderful to listen from beginning to end. If you are a devoted Eurodance fan, you must try and find this great album. You won't be disappointed."

"Well...They come from Denmark, big breakthrough came in 1997, but before that they have done songs like this together about 6 years. So if you think that they're copycats of Aqua you're so wrong baby...
Superheroes may not be the best dance album nut it is sure one of the best. Songs like Tamagotchi, Be my lover, In the middle of the night, Toy boy, Tic toc and especially Sea of love are damn good dancetracks and you should pop this little baby everytime you're in the party mood.
I can promise you. It is great. Let it have you!..."
