"I would like to paraphrase part of the liner notes for you, not because I believe it to be factual, but because it will tell you what this CD sounds like. I enjoyed the music, but then again, I own more than one CD by Goblin...I am not giving this CD more than three stars because I think it has somewhat limited appeal.



Never before released in the United States, this romantically macabre score is one of the only things remaining from the cult classic "Gli Amore Morti Benevolenza Ritormano". Coming straight from the Italian horror film movement of the seventies, this soundtrack holds the classic marriage of tension and beauty often found in this genre. With its dream-like scenes and surrealistic cinematography, "Dead Lover" quickly became popular in art houses around Italy. Unfortunately, after it was banned for its subliminal messaging, copies became impossible to find. The director, like his film, dropped into obscurity, leaving only a few story boards and original poster art behind. [Composer and performer] Nathaniel Chance Ashley was rumored to have moved to the United States where he released a few pop albums under a slightly different name.



The booklet also indicates that this music was intended to be listened to at night, alone, in the dark.
