Synopsis

Product Description
As with the other Tesco Distribution re-issues, this latest unearthed gem comes in nice foilblocked digipak with embossed images. Burial was originally released as a LP in 1984 and was the first Death in June record released via Leprosy Discs. The personnel at the time was: Douglas P., Tony Wakeford and Patrick Leagas. After this record, Wakeford left the band. A CD version was released for the first time in 1991 and has remained sold out now for many, many years. Amongst the tracks on this record you'll find a lot of classics and a complete set of brilliant live tracks. Another piece of the puzzle to fill the gaps in the Death In June backcatalog. Simply a must! [IMPORT]

CD Reviews

Another Classic Release... well Released
AndyCap | Ontario, Canada | 07/03/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"After a good 25 years worth of live events and CD's, Death In June continue to re-release their back catalog. Yet again, here's another, this time "Burial." Now the story goes that this release was originally a LP release from the mid 80's (multiple variations of this on coloured vinyl), and originally released in CD format in the early 90's. Since then the CD version has been out of print and voila, the next re-issue itteration in the series.

In the past year or so, we've seen a collective release of unreleased tracks mixed together to form "Abandon Tracks" and Death In June's first ever full length, re-released in a special digi-pak with an early live event packaged in DVD format called "The Guilty Have No Pride." Both are well presented in typical Death In June fashion and worth a recommended buy. Unfortunatly I can't really same the same for this release.

I have yet to justify why a person needs to buy this at this time. For starters, I'll agree that this CD has been out of print for a long time and it's not something you can just go out and purchase (maybe a used CD shop perhaps), but if you spend 2 minutes searching on the net, you can buy the original copy of this CD for alot less (copies are everywhere). The next tiff I have with this release is there is nothing new on it. It's the exact same thing. Yeah it's been remastered and all that, but who really cares in the end when there is nothing new to offer the fans (most fans who like this genre of music are used to low quality recordings half the time). Well I can't say "everything" since Tesco did re-package this release and slapped on a new cover design variation.

In the end though, i can't totally take this release down because it is classic Death In June during their early years, and i really do enjoy it hole heartedly. Also nice to see the release un-earthed again. I guess it's for the fans who missed it the first time around, will now get their second chance at grabbing this (you should). Mind you, by the time you read this, amazon will already be out of stock and you will have to hunt this release down elsewhere.

4 out of 5 stars for being a great release, 1 less for being the same thing over and and over (I expected more)."
