"How come it seems like the only people who don't like his album are Def Leppard themselves? Real metal fans love this record as the powerhouse riffs and leaden production make `On Through the Night' one of the shining beacons of the NWOBHM! In several interviews Joe Elliot has said that he cringes or needs to drink heavily to listen to this record and that bothers me when the artists don't love their work as much as the fans do; are we stupid or something? To Joe I say, forget you! Yes your vocal style is terribly underdeveloped and the lyrics may seem naïve and juvenile but I love it! "Rock Brigade", "Wasted", "Hello America", "Satellite", "Sorrow Is a Woman (could be their best ballad ever, I'm not kidding...."Hysteria"????? PLEASE!!!), "Answer to the Master" and "Overture" deserve mention as among the best songs that the Lepps ever did. I ask you, did the band improve that dramatically that they can kiss off `OTTN'?? It doesn't matter that Mutt Lange wasn't there. If you are among the masses who bemoan that the fact that Def Leppard long ago stop trying to be UFO and Thin Lizzy and tried to be the English Bon Jovi then you probably already have this LP and its follow-up. But for the others who can't believe Def Leppard was ever a metal band...then get this record...won't you help me get out??? Sorry Joe, your real fans love `On Through the Night" and there is nothing you can do about it! Now shut up and take a little trip down to CALIFORN -I -A!"

"If you want a taste of Def Leppard's roots, check this album out. It's full of great rockers, like ROCK BRIGADE, WASTED, IT DON'T MATTER....Hell, the whole album ROCKS!
While i am a fan of Hysteria the most, i feel every fan should listen to every one of their cd's, to get a taste of the different musical paths they went down, cuz it's all GOOD!!! Do yourself a favor, and buy this albums, at all costs."
Great old school hard rock/metal

"This album is freakin' sick....plain and simple. Most people have never even heard of any of these old school Def Leppard songs. In my opinion this is their most unique, original, and raw piece of work. Their other albums did not have the same type of sound that this one did. This album had a more Iron Maiden type sound to it that their later albums did not have. If you're a fan of the older hard rock and metal of 70's/80's your collection is not complete unless you have this album.
