"OH MY GOODNESS,Deitrick Haddon has done it, put together one of the best gospel records i ever heard. Deitrick has to be the best siger/songwriter out there. LIVE THE LIFE showed me the raw,God-given,talent he has. It is so hard to beleive this kid was only 22 years old when he released this classic."

"On this release Haddon and the Voices of Unity walk the line between straight gospel and a more R&B tinged version of the Good News, varying between the midtempo bounce of "Glad I'm Saved" and the old school gospel balladry of the title track.

HIGHLIGHTS:

A little bit of wah-wah opens the slinky strut of the hope anthem "Hold On 2 Your Faith". The band Perfect Peace assists Haddon on the title track's anti-hypocrisy ode. ("Got to live the life/the life you sing about/Somebody's counting on you..") "Glad I'm Saved" rides a mid-tempo groove as they proclaim "glad I'm saved/sanctified/Holy Ghost filled/fire baptized". Chaka Blackmond soars above it all with a wonderful wordless soprano. "Tear Your Kingdom Down" is a defiant rallying call for God's troops. ("Devil, we're gonna tear your kingdom down...Gonna pray til' the power come down") "We've Come 2 Praise Him" has a sound to it that reminds me of Commissioned. Nice uptempo praise track. "Raptured Away" is a slow jam that reminds us Jesus' return is soon. ("Soon it will be over/caught up in the rapture/I'll be going home..") The lead vocalist showcases his range with some nice falsetto reminiscent of Al Green at times.

LOWS:

"Saved" is little more than an interlude restating the previous tune. I wouldn't really miss it if it were gone. The track for "Holiness" veers just a bit too close to "No Diggity" for comfort.

BOTTOM LINE:

Some really great songs, some decent ones, a few clunkers. Better than many gospel releases but he's at his best when he's leaning to more contemporary sounds. I'd get CROSSROADS or LOST AND FOUND first....
