"Finding Dell Shannon's songs in true stereo has always been difficult. As I understand it, the original master tapes were lost a long time ago. The original stereo LP albums have always been one of the most valuable collector LP's. I was not aware the master tapes were ever found, but the CD insert states "All tracks stereo AAD from original analogue source". Interpret that how you want. This CD contains a typical compilation of Dell's early hits (24 tracks). I believe the stereo sound quality on this CD is as good as you will ever find for Dell Shannon."
I CAN'T BELIEVE I FOUND THIS

"ONE OF THE FIRST ALBUMS I BOUGHT WAS 1661 SECONDS WITH DEL SHANNON. I PLAYED IT TILL I WORE IT OUT. KEEP SEARCHING AND STRANGER IN TOWN WERE THE 2 FAVORITES, BUT THE COVERS OF OTHER PEOPLES HITS WERE REALLY WELL DONE. I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN I WAS ABLE TO BUY THIS. THE RUNAWAY ALBUM IS A REAL BONUS. TOO BAD DEL WON'T BE MAKING ANY MORE MUSIC."
A real find!

"If you love Del Shannon, get this CD because, being 2 of his original early 60s albums, you get several different styles of his early music - not just the hits. Also, it's a good place to get the very rare stereo versions of his songs. I never thought I'd hear "Runaway" and "Keep Searchin" in stereo! (NOTE: The stereo version of "Runaway" is an alternate take, but there's no really noticable differences.)The LP tracks are much better than you'd think since Del Shannon was primarily a singles artist. There are some really outstanding songs I'd never heard, and the covers are magnifnicent: "Running Scared" by Roy Orbison, "Do You Wanna Dance" by Bobby Freeman, "Rag Doll" by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Several songs were originally recorded by Del and later became hits for other artists: "(Marie's The Name) His Latest Flame" by Elvis Presley, "I Go To Pieces" by Peter and Gordon.Send e-mail to Taragon Records to encourage them to keep up the reissues of 60s artists' original LPs on CD!"

"I originally bought this CD for the true stereo alternate take of Runaway, which, as the others have stated, is virtually indistinguishable from the hit version. This has since become a favorite of mine. I really never knew what a great musician Del Shannon was, and this CD showcases him at his best. The sound quality here is fantastic for the time period and is about as good as it's ever going get. If you like Del Shannon, Runaway, or are just looking for some great oldies, this is the CD to get. Highly recommended."
