"What an absolutely listening joy. Every minute is inspired. I first heard this recording in 1960 and bought the CD when it was made available. Powerful, dramatic, joyful, exciting, and the quiet, mysterious opening immediately grabs your attention knowing that something special is coming and when it does you are not disappointed. Why is this symphony not played? It is a musical crime."

"I heard ONLY Vincent's Symphony in D on the radio, and immediately set out to buy it. It's great! Lively, exuberant, but not "loud" or discordant. Definitely festive. Oh, and well played--par for the course for Ormandy & the Phil. Have NOT heard the other pieces--yet. JF"

"I stumbled upon this CD as I was searching for TV soundtracks from the 50's like "Victory At Sea". I recall watching "Victory At Sea" and "Air Power" when I was a kid in the 50's. To be able to listen to the music of these shows on CD is great. I play these often.
The Vincent: Symphony in D portion is a real treat for me as I attended what is now called Western Kentucky University in the late 60's where this composer once taught (in the 50's). Although I never met him, to think that I walked the grounds he did is amazing. It's a great piece of music. I'm surprised how well it fits in with the "Air Power" music.
I find this CD and the "Victory at Sea" soundtracks my favorites. It's well worth a listen and purchase."
