Den of Thieves full length debut Letters from the Tanzerouft is a welcome addition to the Exotic Fever Records family. Put out as a co-release with Germany s Altin Village, this release brings the work of Staten Island hardcore/punk stalwarts to international audiences. The band, made up of former members of the illustrious Cable Car Theory, Cattle Press, Most Precious Blood, and Ripping Christ, brings passion, vision, and fury to their music. Members have been integral parts of the Staten Island and New York City hardcore scene for decades, recording, releasing, and playing defiant, exhilarating melodic hardcore and punk. The release is no exception. Opening with The Fable Mantis, guitars swell and soar, and vocalist John Farag delivers powerful lyrics with his distinctive voice, in the vein of bands like Hot Water Music, Fine Day, and Three. The record conveys social foreboding, political mistrust, and the everyday trials of four chaps struggling to make sense of this madness and live with intention.
