Synopsis

Product Description
A Tone for My Sins is a previously released, but hard to find, CD by guitarist Denny Freeman, long a fixture of the Austin blues scene. He spent the 70's and 80's in the company of Jimmie and Stevie Vaughan and the world famous Antones Night Club House Band before moving to L.A., there landing a job w/ Taj Mahal for several years. He's currently playing guitar in the Bob Dylan Band and participated in Bob's last studio album, Modern Times. This is Freeman's 3rd of four instrumental albums, reflecting his influences and loves, which range from soul jazz and blues, to rock and roll and funk, and most things in between.

INTERESTING INSTRUMENTAL

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Denny Freeman once played with both Vaughan brothers as well as various other blues and country musicians prior to venturing out on his own. This CD is an interesting instrumental that show cases Denny on various tracks playing electric guitar, six string bass, hammond organ and electric piano. All 12 songs on this disc where written by Denny as well. The songs on the CD are one part blues, one part jazz, one part country, and a little rock all thrown in together which not only makes for an interesting listen but makes the CD difficult to categorize as any particular genere. As far as guitarists go, Denny is a fine performer. However, to my surprise, the CD is a little low key and does not quite reach the level of a Vaughan, Kenny Wayne Shephard, Jonny Lang, Stevie Vai, Joe Satriani or even a Danny Gatton. Nevertheless, if you like a little slower mellower paced CD, this is a good choice."

"If you like JAZZ,SWING,BLUES,ROCK,DIRTY SOUNDS,CLEAN SOUNDS,SURF STYLE TRACKS in fact any kind of guitar style or playing you must have this. After the first listen I thought this was good. 5 listens later it has become simply brilliant. Denny Freeman should be a regular recording artist with anual releases. I would love more of this. Next to DANNY GATTON and the HELLECASTERS this is instrumental guitar musik at it's best."
