CD ReviewsLaine is a Rock Survivor Ron | Tacoma, WA | 03/15/2004 (4 out of 5 stars) "The title is fitting, as Denny Laine has been around since the original British Invasion of 1964, when he was lead singer of the Moody Blues. This CD is a good buy for the money - 17 songs in all, well over an hour of music. The songs styles vary, from bluesy rock to country to 80's synth based pop-rock. Lyrically, Laine is no lightweight, as he addresses such topics as destruction of the environment, alien contact, peace and individual freedom. 'All I Want is Freedom", "On the Radio", "Rescue My World", "Light on the Water" and "Heart for a Ride" are excellent modern sounding tracks with passionate vocals by Denny. "Who Moved the World" is a gorgeous ballad that would have sounded nice on a Wings album, while "Anyone Can Fly" shows his folk influences (it would have fit in nicely on Wings' "London Town' album). There's also a remake of his Moody Blues hit, "Go Now", and a re-recording of his 1967 British hit "Say You Don't Mind". Hopefully CD's like this will introduce Denny's work to a larger audience." At times a bit reminicent of a cross between Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton. Brilliant!" Better than nothing John Sposato | Syracuse, NY, USA | 12/29/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "Denny Laine has never gotten his fair share in this business we call show. After Wings, he struggled to make a name for himself. Lagging sales have kept most of his solo albums out of print and hard to find, even here. This is a usual compilation of tracks. "Send Me the Heart" and "Go Now" are here. Some tracks from the deleted studio LPs are here as well."
