Destiny's Child still bringing the hits
07/20/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is DC's second single from their recently released "Survivor" album. Personally, I feel that their last album ("Writing's on the wall") was much better than their newest. I think they should have stuck to the more "mega-hit" making producers they had before, but I guess I'm not here to talk about the ALBUM, I'm here to talk about their new single "Bootylicious." I think this is a great follow-up from their last single "Survivor." It's great to dance to and it gets you started off on the right foot for the day. ;o) There are five tracks on this maxi. Here is the listing:1 - Album Version 2 - Richard Vission's V-Quest 3 - Richard Vission's D.J. Dub 4 - Big Boyz Remix 5 - Case RemixPersonally, I think Richard "Humpty" Vission did a fantastic job mixing this song. (He's one of my favorite DJs) The Big Boyz Remix is okay. It's a bit "plain," but still a nice urban mix. The Case Remix is my least favorite. I think it is SUPPOSED to be a 2-step mix, but for some reason it just sounds like one big mess. lol But oh well I guess. This is a good purchase for any DC fan. I'm sure by now we've all heard this song and know how popular it is. If you like DC at all, you shouldn't be disappointed. ;o) Also, just a note, if you're looking for the Rockwilder Remix featuring Missy Elliot, you won't find it on this single. You can actually find that particular version on the soundtrack to "MTV's Hip Hopera: Carmen" Hope this review was helpful."

"Destiny's Child has done it again by starting a new trend with their bound to be number one hit "Bootylicious"! This song is off the hook, I mean I don't think this song is to inappropriate for the young and I know the older audience be feelin' this track too because of the Stevie Nicks sample from the "Edge Of Seventeen"! But regardless of the hot Stevie Nicks sample, Destiny's Child has shown they need not sample to make a hot hit by releasing these hot remixes. All of the remixes on this single are hot and club friendly but they just were not worthy enough for the remix video which is the Rockwilder Remix of Bootylicious that was featured on the CARMEN soundtrack. Even though these remixes are not the Rockwilder Remix featuring Missy Eliot, they are still worthy enough for my ears and the dance floor.Track Listing:1.) Bootylicious - Album Version (3:27) = This is the hot original version that can't be beat regardless of how good the remixes are.2.) Bootylicious - Richard Vission's V-Quest (6:06) = This is one of the best remixes on her because they somewhat make Michelle's part the chorus and that's my favorite part of the song.3.) Bootylicious - Richard Vission's D.J. Dub (5:27) = This is not really a remix because all it is, is a constant repeat of the word D.J. through out the whole song.4.) Bootylicious - Big Boyz Remix (3:38) = This remix is more to the R&B side and is heavy on the base and also heavy on the dance floor.5.) Bootylicious - Case Remix (4:45) = This remix is on the dance side and has some funky vocal edits. The girls from Destiny have never had such deep voices, but it all sound good. Peeps can you handle this, I don't think you can handle this, Is you not "Bootylicious" enough for this single! Get This single and let Destiny's Child bring out the Bootylicious in you, you'll never know till you try!"
Bootylicious is Groovilicious!

"Let's be honest, here. Destiny's Child's "Survivor" was a wildly uneven collection of TRL-ready Black pop. The best song on that CD was easily "Bootylicious." Sensual and catchy, it was my jam for the summer of 2001, with its smart Stevie Knicks sample and its memorable chorus. On this CD, the girls take it to another level, and get a bangin' house treatment courtesy of Richard Vission. This mix is louder, grittier, and funkier than the original, and a dub version is also available. Of course, there's a hip hop remix at the end, but it's blah and predictable. Those who know me understand that I have mixed feelings about Destiny's Child (or is it really Beyonce with two backup singers?), but make no mistake: "Bootylicious" is groovilicious."
