Amazon.com This gutbucket of blues, country, ragtime, string band, and jug staggers and sways like an inebriated mule. With an arsenal of acoustic instruments--harmonica, washboard, jug, kick drum, tuba, steel guitar, arch-top guitar, standup bass, ukulele, and tuba--Devil in a Woodpile has created a joyous romp that borrows material from many sources (Ray Charles, Bob Wills, traditional rural blues, original songs) and boils it all down to a primitive, primal soup. Rick Sherry (lead vocals, washboard, jug, harmonica) and Paul K (guitars) cut their teeth backing Delta bluesman Honeyboy Edwards and have the instrumental chops to prove it; Tom Ray (bass, uke) has been plucking for the Bottle Rockets and Waco Brothers. CD ReviewsThese guys are a riot!!! 08/31/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "It may not be mainstream music for the masses, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. If you were to accuse these guys of being original - they would be GUILTY. They are very talented musicians with a unique style.I saw these guys in Wisconsin last June and didn't know what to expect at first. After all, it was supposed to be a bluesy-kind-of bluegrass type of band. One guy plays the stand up bass, another plays a steel-guitar, and the other guys plays a harmonica and washboard!?!!!? But I have to say, after a few songs my feet start tapping, my head starts bobbin' to the music, and then all the sudden I've got the GROOVE baby! These guys are a blast and they are all about fun. Check them out." The entire family loves to dance to the cd 05/16/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "We listen to the cd all the time. The kids love to hear "the cooker-man chucg" song over and over again. Rick "Cookin" Sherry is outstanding. His harp technique is very impressive."
