"Dhafer Youssef is clearly interested in pushing music in directions not taken before... His music often requires me several listens before i can get into it deeply... It's so concis and technical but in the sametime so lyric and poetic...i can't really describe..just listen to it..it's amazing!
And, start by "DIVINE SHADOWS", this Youssef's last CD is nothing but a big Success!"
Utterly superb!

"I stumbled onto this artist after listening to Anouar Brahem. I really love the sound of the oud and was looking for other players. I now have all of Dafer Youssef's recordings. I love them all but this latest one is amazing. It is an awesome clash of Arabic music, norwegian jazz and electronica.I have heard a lot of great music in the last year but this one is my favorite. The combination of the beautiful sound of the oud, the sensational non-verbal vocals with electronic downtempo grooves all played by excellent musicians is very original and wonderful. This artist deserves much wider attention."
