"Totally new to me in collectables and what a delight when I checked out this generous 34-track collection of her early work! Her back story tells of how she just didn't quite get the recognition she should have overall, but what a pioneer she was for her time!
The best part of some of the tracks I recognized as being popular hits for Brit Lulu and American Lesley Gore are that Dinah's versions are made all her own through her unique vocals and top notch arrangements! In fact, truth be told on a few like "Try To Understand" (Lulu's hit) I love Lee's version equally! For "98.6" (never a song I liked that much for Gore), I LOVE this version!!
She kind of had a little better sense when to be "raspy" on tunes where Lulu would just do the whole song that way! Lee's own catalogue of songs like "I'll Forgive you then Forget You", "Who Stole the Sugar", "Pushing a Good Thing Too Far" and some others really deserved a niche somewhere in pop history since I've never heard other (or better) covers by anyone else!
Definitely glad to have this one and I hope the second time around this talented singer hits a new base of fans! She really deserves it!"
