This moving tribute to the beautiful music of the Catholic heritage includes both common chants of the Mass and some of our most beloved songs, such as Panis Angelicus and Ave Maria. A great gift idea for anyone eager to learn the traditions of church music prior to Vatican II.
"The Mass as it should be said according the Traditional Latin Rite. Cherish this CD. Relish it. Glory at the stunning Ave Maria. If you can find a Traditional Latin Mass near (episcopally-approved) by all means go. We need wider approval of the Traditional Mass so young Catholics like myself can fall in love with the Mass that was said by the greatest saints of all time. Please pray for the return of Gregorian Chant, of Eccelsiastical Latin and, above all, for the return of the Traditional Latin Mass!"
The way it was, the way it still is

"To often in today's Church, inclusiveness and relevance are given priority over time-honored traditions that set us apart as Catholics. Sometimes our mass more closely resembles a Protestant service than the traditonal worship contained on this disc. Yet in our faith's history, and still practiced in some churches today is a tradition that is uniquely and exclusively ours. No other denomination can lay claim to Gregorian chant and high mass. Catholicism is like a well that has a depth that reaches all the way to Jesus's founding of the Christian faith. High mass is an outward sign of that connection. This CD contains the high mass that many post-concilar Catholics heard about growing up but never experienced. The expression of the church's true affection for our Lord can be heard on this disc. I urge all Catholics to cherish that which makes us special. Listening to this disc is a good start.I do take offense at the sub-title "for nostaligic Catholics." With a title like that, one might misconstrue that fans of this CD are looking to the past. On the contrary, we are looking forward, to an eternity with the Lord."
Not as polished as I had hoped

"Having had years of latin in a seminary as well as years of singing gregorian chant and high and low masses in latin, I was a bit disappointed in the product. There are CD's out there from monasteries that offer better renditions and some of the masses written by the classical composers are more true to form. I got the impression that this CD was more intended to take one down "memory lane" than truly recreate and represent a Catholic High Mass. No nostalgia for me with this CD. If you want some great traditional Catolic hyms, I highly recommend the CD entitled "Catholic Latin Classics""
You don't have to be nostalgic anymore!

"This album is wonderful, however, it is better to be able to experience the Mass for yourself. In my diocese, the diocese of Camden, we have a church that continues the Traditional Rite. Look us up when you are in the area. Mater Ecclesiae. If you can't experience the Mass, buy the CD!"
Great Training Aid (and Enjoyable to boot!)

"Now that there is a Tridentine mass being offered in Knoxville, this CD becomes more valuable than ever. Not only does listening to the Mass provide a serene inspiration, but it serves as instruction to us Post-Vatican II catholics who are only familiar with the Novus Ordo liturgy. Et cum spiritu tuo!
I am much more comfortable in partipating in the prayer of the mass in latin after repeated listening to this CD. As a bonus, the Ave Maria is wonderful, as is the chanted Pater Noster.
Incidentally, the CD Abba Pater features an excellent track featuring the late John Paul II chanting the same Pater Noster, followed by a male choir praying it again, wonderfully orchestrated. I highly recommend this CD as well."
