CD ReviewsExcellent!!! A must for any Dissection fan!! 07/26/1998 (5 out of 5 stars) "Dissection are truly one of the GREAT Metal bands of today. I can't really say they are Black Metal or Death Metal, as I feel they are somewhere in-between the two styles. Either way, if you are into brutal, yet melodic Metal with a ton of feeling, get ALL of their CD's.All the tracks on this CD have already been released in one form or another, but it's a great collection of what might be considered "rare" material. The Demo version of "Where Dead Angels Lie" is much more raw than the album version, with a more aggressive guitar sound. "Elizabith Bathory" is a mid-tempo track, with the trademark combination of screaming, evil vocals and haunting guitar melodies. Again, the guitars sound raw and very powerful. Dissection are one of the few bands today that use the mid-range on their amps and DON'T de-tune their guitars. This really makes the guitar sound stand out compared to the typical "V" (no mids, tuned to Cb) sound used by most Metal bands today. The rest of the CD is just as good, with a Slayer cover (The Anti Christ), a dark piano instrumental (Feathers Fell) and the totally devastating "Son of the Mourning". This is probably one of my favorite Dissection songs. Fast, evil and totally brilliant!! The CD closes with the Album version of "Where Dead Angels Lie".A really great CD that's a must for any fan of Dissection and this style of Metal." Too Bad this was their last one... SweetFreedom | IL | 06/03/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "This EP was released after their amazing "Storm of the Light's Bane" longplayer. Featuring a cover of the song "Elizabeth Bathori" and of Slayer's "Antichrist" it is rounded out by two versions of the title track, and unreleased song from the "Storm..." sessions and a different version of their amazing classically-influenced piece, "Feathers Fell."So sad that the bad has not continued since the incarceration of mainman Jon Nodtveidt, they were showing such amazing progression." A single from the best black/death metal band in the world! Morgion | 05/26/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) ""Where Dead Angels Lie" was surely the best song from "Storm..." and here we have a few rare Dissection tracks. "Elisabeth Bathory" is a cover of the old Bathory song, Dissection execute it in the finest fashion, and "Anti-Christ", the Slayer classic, done by Dissection even faster (!!!) than the original! You gotta hear this, if only for the amazing drumming. This is for the hardcore Dissection fan but anyone into Norwegian/Swedish/Black/Death metal in the slightest will totally dig this album. Anything coming from Dissection is masterpiece, too bad they don't exist anymore..."
