"I found this album to be appropriately dignified and very beautiful. I hardly think it's valid criticism to say Ditters was no Mozart. Who is? While this is more restrained than Mozart's Requiem...or for that matter most of Haydn's masses, that doesn't make it any less enjoyable to listen to. Like any piece of music, you have to be in the right mood to receive what the composer is sending out. By any standard I can think of, this is wonderful music that I'll enjoy listening to many times.
The performance (and recording) are likewise very good and all of the soloist are a pleasure. The fact that the Pope's older brother (Georg Ratzinger) directs is also a nice bit of trivia if you happen to be playing it for friends."
