CD Reviews

Greatest Hits are better than great :) :) :) :)

"Hola todos! You don't even need to listen to the samples to know this is a great salsa album....Tak my word for it....."La Quiero A Morir" combines lead singer Huey Dunbar's heartbreaking R&B style vocals..his smooth tenor glides over the congas and the timbales...DLG's cover of "Volvere" is beautiful and crackles with passion, as we hear the combined sounds of a musical hook that leans toward soul as well as la alma (the soul) of the dancer on the dancefloor....with "Muevete" we get a taste for the "salsa reggae" influence that DLG is known for...Fragancia, one of the two lead rappers in this group, does reggae freestyle in his silky soft voice as the reggae beat pops out of nowhere from the traditional salsa beat... DLG's cover of "Me Va A Extranar" is soulful and even sexy...Huey croons his way through a smokey atmosphere of trombones and bongos...."No Morira" is DLG's Spanish cover of "No Matter What," which was originally sang by Brenda K. Starr and George Lamond....We hear the sounds of freestyle rapper Speedy G and Huey's soft and romantic tones...It only gets better.....and the duet with Huey and Eddie is not to be overlooked...it is last but certainly not least...I have never heard such a great blendiing of voices....Eddie Santiago's raspiness and Huey's smoothe R&B style melt together like toffe and chocolate...."
Great History

"Dark Latin Groove - this name says it all about what you are going to hear. By the hand of Sergio George these 3 guys (Huey Dunbar, Fragancia and Da Barba) moved the Salsa sound to the next step. Influences from Hip-Hop,R&B,Funky bass lines and Latin Rythms makes this album the recopilation of the best and last moments of DLG Salsa.I think salsa history changed since DLG appeared because it came with a very mature idea on the way of mixing new and old sounds (electronic vs. acoustic) putting the best that every instrument have to offer in a continous "descarga".For me DLG is like a very concentrate sauce(salsa) with a touch of great vocals and amazing musical arranges. You will never feel tired of hearing this CD again and again.Great for dance, play or when you're stuck in a traffic jam!. It could be a good choice to those who want to start listening to salsa music but have a background in Funky-R&B styles.5 Stars for all of the tracks."
Dance to the beat in Miami Heat

"Locked-down in rush hour I-95 traffic on my way to or from work, DLG comes on, I want to jump out of my car and snatch the guy next to me in his linen suit out of his 740i and dance down the aisles of traffic; wedding ring or not.Great music and a killer sound system is the only way to beat hot traffic in Miami. DLG is a must."
