"Although he is revered and almost deified among European afficianados, The King of the Texas Yodellers, Don Walser still remains relatively unknown among US mainstream Country Music listeners. This is truly unfortunate, because there's really never been anyone else quite like him. Along with Rolling Stone From Texas, Texas Legend (several songs occur in different takes on both CDs), is a superb overview of a unique down-to-earth song stylist who left us too early. Don't be without it even if you think you don't like "corny" Country music. It's addicting and not at all harmful to your health; it may even prove to be an effective antidepressant. Like Bob Wills (several of whose band members played with Walser as well), who hailed from and is still revered in the same "Texahoma" region, Don Walser filled a singular niche in American music history. If you ask Dwight Yoakum, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, or Jerry Jeff Walker (among others), I'm certain they'll agree. And, at Amazon.com prices you really have no excuse not to buy it."
