"Well.....first a warning....I am an overly biased longtime Dr.and The Medics fan.....so of course I love this one too.Having said that....What makes this album so good,is that Doctor,Steve,Wendi,Collette, and the new members, sound like they never left the studio,or stopped being a band. It's the same great/scarey sounds! The band have always given me the impression that by day, they are a Psychedelic Pop group, but when night falls they emerge as a Black Sabbath cover band! So when they say they are "Happy but Twisted"...it fits. I enjoy all the tracks on this release, and I think the other longtime fans will too. ( Who could say no to the Anadin Brothers siren's wail? ) "Instant Heaven" is not only a good song, but reminds me of "As We Go Along",a Monkees song from the film "Head". "Black & Blue" is a re-do of a previous b-side. And "Frankenstein" ( the Edgar Winter classic ),is done here with LYRICS! But well done, none the less. The NEW version of "Spirit" should also be remarked upon...it kind of has a country flavour to it. ( Think of The Beatles cover of "Act Naturally" ). I quite enjoy it. And perhaps it's a bit of an in-joke. ( If you've ever heard Norman Greenbaum's original album,"Spirit In the Sky" was the only "electric" song,so maybe the Doctor has supplied Norman with a missing piece! ) If you are a newer listener....I recommend getting the newly re-issued "Laughing At the Pieces",and then get this one. ( It will all make more sense. ) ( Ha-Ha ). Either way, this album is the usual Love,Piece and Bananas from our saviors. Listen with tongue firmly in cheek. ( Or someone elses cheek! )"
