Not a False Note

"Hits and History is the most hummable, memorable collection of radio hits from one of the great bands of the nineteen seventies and eighties, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, ever to be compiled into one combination CD/DVD set. Lead singer Dennis Locorriere's voice throbs with a passion and intensity that turns even the most mundane of come-ons into an irresistible invitation to dance, or sing along, or drive around Paris. Listeners will bask in the glow of all the great Shel Silverstein songs and signature tunes included in this collection, classics such as "Sylvia's Mother" and "Sharing the Night Together." "Hits and History" strikes all the right notes with nary a "filler" tune on the disk; they're all great, infectious pop rock gems interspersed with some achingly poignant ballads ("Lucy Jordan" and "Stuck on the Wrong Side of Love," which is one of the less familiar tunes on the CD but also has one of the best lyrics: "I sank in love and I drowned, but at least in an ocean and not just a wave.") "Hits and History": a collection to be listened to over and over again."
