Sergei Kvitko was born in Russia and began studying music at the age of six. He was awarded numerous prizes as a pianist, piano teacher, and accompanist, including a prize at the All-Russia Piano Competition Open Debut.
After receiving the highest possible music education in Russia, Mr. Kvitko came to the United States to pursue a doctoral degree in piano performance at Michigan State University, which he completed in 2001. In his first year at MSU he won the two most prestigious School of Music competitions: The Honors Concerto Competition and The Catherine Herrick Cobb Scholarship.
As a soloist and a chamber musician, Mr. Kvitko has performed throughout Russia, United States and Canada. He also is a recording engineer and producer for Blue Griffin Recording.
Sergei Kvitko's Dracula was winner of 2003-2004 Lansing State Journal's Thespie Award, Riverwalk Theatre's Barney Award and City Pulse's Pulsar Award. (Above is all from the record label's write-up of the CD).
