CD Reviews

Tight Harmonies Great love songs!

"This is one of the Dramatics Best cds in my opinion. The songs

touch your heart and speak of hurt and love they own a special

place in my heart. When you think of the old soul groups the

Dramatics come to the top very quickly. The musicians used on

this collection of music are at their best also. I cried all the

way home and A thousand shades of blue come to mind when I think

of great musicianship. Be Delighted by what you hear on this

cd from the many songs,I am sure you will have your own favorite.

So Good I Want to Cry

"This one of my favorites from the 70's...I wore it out. Now that it's on CD, I'm wearing it out again...it's so timeless and the songs and voices are incredible...Nobody can sing "Oh-Oh-Oh yeah" like Ron Banks. And LJ Reynolds is magic as well. This duo is the only one from the 70's that could rival Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin. Very few groups had two stand-out lead singers. Unfortunately the Dramatics never got the commercial attention that the Tempts received, perhaps due to less crossover appeal and of course no Motown machine backing them. (I would love for them to have made a Dramatics vs. Temptations album, like they did with the Dells...)You won't find I Dig Your Music, I Cried All the Way Home, or A Thousand Shades of Blue on their "Greatest Love Songs" Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 CD's (which are both outstanding). Buy "Jackpot" for those alone. And of course, this was where we first heard I'm Going By The Stars in Your Eyes and Me and Mrs. Jones ("sweet sweet Jones"). Cuts 5 and 10 are the weakest on this CD, and even they aren't dogs; but without them it would be a perfect CD, smokin' all the way through. Still, this one's a must-have. Another nice one is their "Dramatically Yours" CD."
MASTERPIECE OF AMERICAN SOUL MUSIC

"Perfect reunion of good musics, good arrangements and good performances! All the musics are excellent, specially "I'm going by the stars in your eyes", the exotic version for "Me and Mrs. Jones" (of Billy Paul) and the AMAZING "Me myself and I" (a potential hit). Launched in 1975, I hear this album stil today ( I have the vinil record) and never get tired of hearing it..."
