CD Reviews

Not a Phish album but an album with Phish on it - Good music
06/11/1999
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I think the expectation of everyone when buying this album was that they were getting a Phish album. It is not a Phish album. It doesn't have the jams and great instrumentals fans are used to in Phish albums. It is an album of catchy sounds and funny lyrics. I hated it when I first bought it because I expected Phish. But after getting over that expectation and simply listening to the album for what it was, I really started to enjoy it. It is definetely one of those albums that grow on you more and more as you listen to it. I've only given it three stars because, having just bought the new album (Under the Sound Umbrella)and already submitting a review (I gave it 4 stars), I couldn't give this album a better rating. "Under the Sound Umbrella" is a much better album. If you buy this album thinking you're buying Phish, you'll be disappointed. But if you're not buying it under that presumption, grab it."
Leave all ego's out the door please.

"This is an egoless, old friends getting together and having a good time album. Then you have the cynical folks who say, "this is not Phish, how can I listen to anything else besides Phish." "I don't like his voice, the lyrics have nothing to offer." People just need to realize that they have no say on what a band should write, sing or play. This is a funny album, lighten up and relax. Please do not over analize this album, it's just a simple straight to the point album. The lyrics are simple, but who cares, they make me laugh and that's all that really matters. All the songs have the same tempo, the structures are similar, and some of the songs have that, "guitar hero" solo sound. Plus the lyrics are amusing, except Tv Show, it's depressing, because situations like that sometimes cross your mind and do occur. Well, at any rate, this is a good album and try not to listen to that guy from Kentucky."
Not like phish, but great anyway

"Ok, this may not be phish, but it's still an awesome album. The lyrics are awesome and the songs are almost ska-like. so don't listen to those who are so totally obsessed with phish that they put down anything with phish's name on it that doesn't sound exactly like them. give it a chance"
