"Long out of print (due, apparently, to some 'issues' with the Portugese label that recorded these tracks), this is one of Vini Reilly's most idiosyncratic masterpieces and an essential addition to the DC discography. 'Amigos em Portugal' includes some of Reilly's trademark downbeat singing ("Sounds like he had his last emotional experience about 10 years ago," said one of my friends), which I actually find profoundly moving, at least in small doses. And it features some of his most gorgeous compositions, like 'To End With,' 'Sara e Tristana,' & 'Favourite Descending Intervals.' The tossed-off nature of this recording, the Mediterranean melancholy, and its long unavailability on CD make it a treasure to finally re-obtain. I bought this album over 20 years ago, along with 'LC,' and every time I've ever put it on someone has asked where they can find a copy. Now I can tell them. A modern classic by one of our greatest living guitarists."
I wished I had read the review first!!!

"I already own Amigos Em Portugal. It is a great insight to what would become some of Durutti Column's most memorable pieces. I didn't know it was remasted from vinyl. It definiatly was a impluse thing. I have no regrets purchasing this album but I am dissapointed with the recording quality. I could have done better with a $100 turnable and a Minidisc record, really."
