"Kertesz is superb in this exhilarating performance of the 8th symphony. Rhythmically sparkling and full of pastoral rapture, it has rarely been equalled on record and never surpassed. Harnoncourt and Fischer are also very fine, but Kertesz is glorious. His performance of the 'New World' is also outstanding, although here the competition is intense, with superb performances also available from Fischer, Masur and others."

"I was delighted to see that this recording was re-issued. This is by far the most wonderful performance/recording of the Dvorak 8th I've ever heard. Kertesz understands this work as no one else does. There are many fine recordings of the 9th but he stands alone with the 8th."
