King of the Mountain [Album Version]
With a holiday EP in 2004, another EP in January 2005, and a full-length album released at the same time, Dwight Twilley is having something of a renaissance. Indeed, it's easy to get the feeling that Twilley, like a number of artists experiencing a second wind, only needed an independent label to get the music rolling. Clocking in at 25 minutes, Walkin' on Water features two versions each of "Walkin' on Water," "47 Moons," and "King of the Mountain." In each case, the first version is the radio edit, the second, the album cut. Since the production and vocals are basically the same on both cuts, the only significant difference in each version is length. As was true of Twilley in the past, the songs are highly arranged pop featuring multi-tracked voices against a background of Spector-ish sound (guitars, bells, and drums). Twilley fans will be more than happy that a talented tunesmith is back in action. ~ Ronnie D. Lankford, Jr., All Music Guide
