Superb Album by a Country Master

"This is the perfect country album. I love all of Dwight's work, but this one is truly a well-rounded classic. Whether you want country swing, honky tonk, a ballad or rock, it's all here and done exceptionally well. Dwight is always interesting and original, even when he's "retro" in his styling. He's totally unique and a breath of fresh air even 16 years after this album came out. "This Time" is an especially welcome break to hear in this era of watered down "pop" country music. I cannot name a favorite song because they're all top notch. Highly recommend."
I like it

"A great CD by one of country music's best artists. Definitely my favorite of his, it has awesome songs like "Thousand Miles From Nowhere" and "Try Not To Look So Pretty," as well as others that are fantastic. This CD is really well produced, especially songs that seem ready-made to be hits like "Ain't That Lonely Yet." However, the songs are also authentic and genuine much like the artist himself, touching on themes of abandonment, loneliness, angst, etc, but without the grungy quality of production that these themes often elicit. Dwight Yoakam and Willie Nelson are the only reason I bother with country music; I don't think many other country artists match up to these two. If you like the music here then check out Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc. or Population Me, which have a lot of his best songs. This is a very accessible country CD and I highly recommend it to any fan of well-made music."
