Synopsis

Album Description
"Not since American Music Club released California has a band tapped so potently into a type of sound that tastes good with liquor but can also make you drunk with melancholy even if you're on the straight and narrow." -- SF BAY GUARDIAN The town of Coarsegold is the geographic center of California, and it is appropriate that The Dying Californian chose to name their third release after it since Nathan Dalton was in Coarsegold when he began writing the album. The members of The Dying Californian have been playing together for well over ten years, and yet they continue to refine their sound: part indie rock, part folk, part country, but with a distinct melody all its own. Sure, the band's influences can be detected in early R.E.M., CCR, The Band, and Neil Young, but The Dying Californian's sound, lead by the charismatic voice of Nathan Dalton, is blazing its own West Coast trail. The band has shared the stage with American Music Club, Ladyhawk, Love as Laughter, Magnolia Electric Co., Mystic Chords of Memory, Sufjan Stevens, and countless others.
