CD ReviewsGrowl and Bop Mark Maj | Lackawanna, NY United States | 03/02/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "I love the alto sax voice of Earl Bostic. He is an alto version of a Texas Tenor. He has a gritty growling sound that is very hot and lush and lavished and sounds great. If you know who Louis Jordan is then you need to listen to Earl play the horn too. The two go hand in hand, Except that Earl has more growl to his sound. The bluesy bop swing was king then and Earl is one of the great players from that era that is too often over looked for his contributions. I also recommend Sam Butera."
