Synopsis

Album Description
This band of Japanese exiles released just one album, which first appeared in 1972 and makes its long-overdue CD debut here. A melodic and musicianly set featuring Japanese instruments such as the shakuhachi, koto and taisho-goto alongside the traditional trappings of Western rock and roll, it's a hugely enjoyable collection that will appeal to all fans of Eastern-tinged psychedelia.

"East -Fallout

Out of the shimmers of Moby Grape came the Japanese quintet East and their ethereal 1972 Fall Out. The songsmith/ guitarist Ruese Seto opens the album with the impressionable Jefferson Airplane influenced "Beautiful Morning", a plea for recognition. (not the beat number "Oh What A Beautiful Morning" by the Trebletones) East's Fall Out which includes the Japanese Koto (Paupers also used ) is largely a beautiful album that should have been released in 1967 to a more receptive flowerpower subculture.Flautist Tadahide Yoshikawa's "She" is CSN all over while "Black Hearted Woman" ripples emotively with jingling Paupers styled guitar by Gen Morita and pulsing percussion by Fumio Adachi. Vocalist Seto is a three octave Bowie in the "Deaf Eyed Julie" while the translucent "Call Back The Wind" harken again to the mirrors of Jefferson. East also included the Japanese "Shin-Sorllan." The Zen spirit of this sensitive album flows like water over a rock superbly enhanced by ex Black Lily bassist Noboru Ashahi.
