The Cream of Eddie Cochran!

"This CD is a "2 on 1" release. Cochran only released one album in his own lifetime ( "Singing to My Baby" 1957 ); but several fine albums of unreleased material were released posthumously in the 1960's. Among those albums "Never to be Forgotten" may very well be the finest. A few tracks had already appeared on the 1962 album "Cherished Memories" album, but tracks like "Long Tall Sally", "Weekend", "Little Angel", "Milk Cow Blues" and "Blue Suede Shoes" were "new" and also among Cochran's finest recordings.
"12 of His Biggest Hits" was originally released in April 1960, same month as his tragic car-crash death. These two albums together more or less contain the cream of Cochran's recordings. Among my favourites only few tracks like "I Remember", "My Love To Remember", "Pink Pegged Slacks", "Jeannie, Jeannie , Jeannie" and "My Way" are missing.
For people who may think that Eddie Cochran was only "Summertime Blues" and "C'Mon Everybody" this CD would a great ear-opener. Tracks like "Nervous Breakdown", "Something Else" and "Weekend" are fine songs in same style as the hits and "Milk Cow Blues" is a showcase of Cochran's great instrumental skills.
The booklet is a disappointment. No biography, no information about the recordings, original releases, photos etc. So in that way this can only be called a "cheapo" release, but since the music sound crisp and clean the CD is still very recommendable."
