"This one was probably of Eddie's best and most venturous from his brilliant career... He tackles some great material (lyrics to Miles Davis's Bitch's Brew with the wierd sound effects (Saw and bubbles overdubbed) - - and a Jazz version of Thank You Falletinme Be Myself... WILD! !! ), and even though he recorded many of the tunes in the past, his level of performance, and the nice groovin' hard bop / soul Jazz / funky feel of the make this 1974 release produced by Don Schlitten a "listen straight through" album (Some of the tracks also appear on the 32.Jazz Vocalese compilation inidentally however, the tunes really flow together from tack to track on this CD, so don't pass it up.) The personell are also as good as you're going to get... Joe Newman, trumpet; Billy Mitchell, Tenor Sax; Mickey Tucker, piano, electric piano, organ; Sam Jones, bass an Eddie Gladden, drums - - Joe fields producer. Other high points of the album is the soulful Cannonball Adderly tune, Things are Getting Better... a very funky Freedom Jazz Dance ("
