Jazz as it should be played

"A wonderful jazz album. Eddie Johnson should be far better known than he is. At 78, when this album was recorded, he proves he can still play tenor sax as well as anyone. This album features a few Duke Ellington tunes, including the title track. In fact back in the 40's, Duke Ellington tried unsuccessfully to pry Johnson away from Louis Jordan's band. Johnson and the rhythm section featured here on this album, have performed together in Chicago for the past 6 years leading up to this recording, and as Johnson states in the liner notes, "There was no such thing as a rehearsal. We just got together and played the way we always do." Along with Eddie on tenor, there is John Young on piano, Eddie De Haas on bass and George Hughes on drums."
