Wide range, great piano

"Eden White has been compared quite a bit to Billy Joel, and for good reason. Like the "Piano Man," she's a virtuoso on the ivories, but isn't afraid to add some electric guitar and banging drums to capture the right effect on a song.White's music is great (check out the piano hook on "Twisted," or the melodic progression on "Hungry") but the lyrics are uneven from song to song. Some show a great sense of wordplay and mesh with the music nicely (again, "Twisted" and "Hungry") but most stay in the "workmanlike" range and a few positively clunk ("As long as you win this war I've begun/Your tiny fingers hold all of my heart/Dear God, don't let them tear us apart." off "Through the Glass," for instance). Overall, though, the wide range of different songs (compare the brash guitar and harsh lyrics of "Nice" with the affirmance of "This is the Way" or the almost lullabye quality of "Deep Inside") shows a lot of potential. White promises to be great with some development, and, in the interim, she's damn good now."

"The first time I heard Eden White, her voice pretty much stopped me in my tracks. She sings like a pro wrestling songbird- a beautiful voice, with tons of power behind it, and the ability to draw gasps of awe from people. She's like, the ultimate female artist. On one CD, she mixes so many different styles that you would swear that had other people sing some of the songs. She has a very versatile voice.Also, her songs are not typical love or heartbreak songs. There are a few of them, but they are tastefully done. But there are other types of songs on her album too, like "Song Unsung", about an unrealized potential, or "Make a Difference". I think that is one of, if not THE, most powerful songs on the album. It is a striking blend of melodies, emotions, and thoughts. If this song fails to make you stop and think, you might need to rethink how you live your life."
