>>>>> a VERY SPECIAL Piaf album

"This 1963 "set" recorded at the Bobino Theatre in Paris is a VERY SPECIAL recording. In it, there are selections recorded by her "then-boyfriend" Theo Sarapo, by himself, and in duet with her, along with solos of the Great Piaf herself.
I had this album years ago on LP, and am so very happy that it was (FINALLY) transferred to compact disc. It was near the very end of her career, but make no mistake...the lady "still had it" even then, although she was, of course, ill, and also heavily addicted to drugs and booze.
This live recording just "flows" and "breezes" along, wonderfully paced, and simply "full of life". A truly fabulous album...from the songs themselves, the immediacy of the sound, and presence of the Great Lady...AND, Sarapo is no "slouch" either, when it comes to "crooning"!
A wonderful 3/4 hour's entertainment, and also, a great "historical" document of the Great Piaf at the end of her career.
If you are not familiar with Piaf, then you MUST listen to, and get to know her wonderful, deeply moving recordings. There are TWO recordings that I ALWAYS recommend first, right away when I think someone would be interested in this Great Singer.....This One, and also the 30th Anniversary Collection, a two-disc set of all her great hits. These, together, make up a GREAT collection...the one being her best studio work, and this one, a truly WONDERFUL representation of the Great Lady live onstage.
I cannot recommend this album highly enough! (along with it's suggested accompaniment below, the 30th Anniversary set).
